UKHTTC pregame quick read - Week 7 (Giants)

Hot Take

Washington RB1, Brian Robinson Jnr, will rush for 100 yards and register 2 TDs at the Meadowlands. I’ll also throw in two sacks for a resurgent Chase Young.

This is an opportunity to break the Giants backbone and their 2023 season; they might even turn into sellers approaching the FA deadline.

History

New York have a very healthy number of Wins vs Washington with a 105-70-5 record.

Daniel Jones has performed better vs the Commanders than against any other opponent. He has 11 TDs (10 pass, 1 rush) vs. 3 INTs for 98 rating in 7 career starts vs. Washington.

Although weirdly I would have no problem lining up vs Jones this Sunday behind the beat-up Giants OL.

2022- 20-12 loss at FedEx still remains painful; the Commanders failed to get a W in back-to-back match ups vs New York last season.

Tyrod Taylor is 0-1 vs Washington (2015 for the Bills) if he starts ahead of the injured Jones.

Key match ups

I really fancy Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson to go off vs the Giants rookie CBs Deonte Banks and Tre Hawkins III.

Midweek Banks said he could not name a single Washington OFF player; would be nice if Terry reminds him what a top 10 WR in the NFL looks like.

Sam Howell has the arm and accuracy to get those rockets downfield and I could see some pass interference problems for the Big Blue.

Keys to win?

These are two good DEF on paper.

Washington will come up against a very beat up Giants OL and NYG DC Eric Martindale will likely dial up the Blitz vs a Commanders OL that needs to at least bend not break. I expect the Sam Howell sack count to again increase (Kayvon Thibodeaux is a potential problem) but DO NOT let this get out of hand. That is my first key to win.

Ideally you want Kendall Fuller healthy too; a standout performer so far in 2023 bar the Bears game.

In Darren Waller and Saquon Barkley it is similar challenge to last Sunday vs the Falcons when the Commanders faced Kyle Pitts and Bijan. Continue to do your job in the LB core and backfield.

Spotlight player

Jahan Dotson.

These early season drops from Dotson he will be keen to quickly bury and remind everyone of the huge talent we have with this second-year WR. Ideally, Jahan can go off against Hawkins and register an explosive play or two.

Predictions

The Giants have the definition of a beat-up OL, and they were not functioning well even when the starters were healthy.

Washington need another jump forward and they limit the sack count to just two vs the much-vaunted Giants DEF.

It will not be a huge margin of victory (it rarely is with the Commanders), but they have just a bit too much heat for New York and take the road W by 24-16.
